An outstanding Maritime Museum trip

After checked in hotel, we walked around the Malacca's city and started on our exploration on 4.12.2010. We wanted to focus more on learning about local culture and history. Do you see the red houses behind? The "Red House" is a venue which you never miss when you visit to Malacca.

Jonker Walk is a main attraction of the city of Malacca. No journey to Malacca is complete without dropping by Jonker Walk. The street is famous for its antique shops.

Jonker Walk is situated in the heart of Malacca.A busy road to hunt and bargain for antiques. It seemed a long walk for us.

San Shu Gong is the huge red building opposite Chung Wah coffee shop. Besides beh-teh-soh, they also sell tao-sar-bia, lao-po-bing (wife biscuit) and other pastries in Malacca. You can have their famous “kuih kuchi” which is a a popular dumpling to the Baba and the Nyonya in Malacca.
Toys with funny expression which display in the front window.

Various delicacies on display to satisfy all your desires.
You can take a river cruise alongside Malacca River . The boat tour takes about 45 minutes or an hour to finish the sight-seeing.

Don't miss the chance to try out a bowl of icy cool cendol or ice kacang in Jonker 88 Museum Cafe.
You will love the old interior here.

Self-service is required here for the desserts and noodles when the restaurant becomes extremely busy.

Generous portions at reasonable prices with wonderful taste.

We tried out the famous cendol at the historical city of Malacca. It also known as Cendol Jam Besar. It is strategically located at Jalan Laksamana where many tourists are hanging around.
This dessert is perfect in the hot and humid tropical climates of Malacca. RM1.50 per bowl.

Have you every been on a 16th Century ship? If you haven't ,you can have an up close experience at Malacca Maritime.
Maritime Museum is constructed after 'Flora De La Mar', the Portuguese ship that sank off the Coast of Malacca on its way to Portugal. This museum looks magnificent from a distance.
The ship is so unique because it is located at the town area which surrounded by buildings. It gave mom the feel of the pirate ship like the one we had seen in the movie.
Entrance fee: Free for children below 6. Children below 12 : RM 1.00. Adult: RM 3.00. Visiting Hours : Daily 9.00 am to 5.00 pm . Friday – Sunday 9.00 am to 8.30 pm.

Visitors are not allowed to go into the museum by wearing shoes. You can choose to put your shoes at the shoe rack at the entrance door or put them into a plastic bag which provided by the museum. You can carry it with you to the museum.

Ship models in the Maritime Museum Malacca. There are beautiful models of ships from different countries. What a good place for us to discover, explore and learn about history.

A scene of a typical day long ago as people trade along the river.
The ship is measuring a height of 34 meters and a width of 8 meters. The museum focuses on the maritime history of Melaka and the golden age. Do you see the Eye Captain?
By visiting Maritime Museum, we can understand Melaka more vividly. The journey itself was fun and interesting. This was our second visit to Malacca. As for us, we hope to return to Malacca soon for our third visit.
