A visit to Mahsuri Mausoleum

After took the Langkawi cable car up to to the Top Station, we headed towards Mahsuri Mausoleum on 31.5.2013. Among all the legends that surround Langkawi, the legend about the maiden Mahsuri is the most famous. Mahsuri was a a beautiful maiden who was unfairly accused of adultery. She began to bleed white blood, a sign of her innocence, with her dying breath.
Mahsuri Mausoleum is a historical complex which located in Kampung Mawat. The entrance fee for foreigners is RM 10 for adults and RM 5 for children below 12 years old. RM7.00 for Malaysians. Make sure to bring If you looking for what to do in Pulau Langkawi, put the Langkawi cable car and sky bridge on a must visit. The cable car ride will bring you up to about 708 meters above sea level. It took about 20 minutes to ride up the hill.your Mykad as proof. There is also a museum which detailed story of the legend.

This is a must-see destination as it defines the entire history of this magnificent island.
 The place is opened daily from 8.00 am. to 6.00 pm. 20 minute drive from Langkawi International Airport. We tracked the location using GPS.
Inside, you will be able to immerse yourself in the tale that defined Langkawi.
Following the old Hudud punishment for adultery, Mahsuri tied to a tree and  stabbed to death by the village elders. In her last breath, she laid a curse on the land to be a barren land for seven generation.
Picture of Mahsuri's great grandchildren. Her name is Wan Aishah, the 7th generations of Mahsuri. The curse was broken when the seven generation of Mahsuri,Wan Aishah was born.
Some Malay ladies in traditional costumes playing folk music on old traditional instruments to welcome the guests.
The tragic tale of Mahsuri is regularly performed by the Kota Mahsuri Drama Group.
The legendary Mahsuri Tomb. The tomb of Mahsuri was built centuries after she was unjustly killed at Padang Mat Sirat. Beside the tomb, the whole story of the maiden is written on a panel.
In Mahsuri Complex, you can also see the traditional Malay houses where Mahsuri and her family lived before.
This old Malay house was belonged to Mahsuri's father, Pandak Mayah. 


We climbed up the stairs and got inside the house to explore some of the typical household belongings of a Malay family of 18th and 19th century.
Mahsuri Well which water is believed has healing properties. It blesses those who dip their hands into it. Girls, still remember the story of Woman at the Well. Jesus told the woman he could give her "living water ", so that she would never thirst again. Jesus used the words living water to refer to eternal life.

Both of you were busy drawing water from a well with a bucket. What a great experience for young and old.
Girls, both of you visited langkawi island at two years and four years old. The time flies by so fast, and before dad and mom know it, both of you are grown up. It was great that we had a chance to explore this island again. Mahsuri Mausoleum is one of the most legendary landmarks in the island. Dad and mom glad that we learnt about how the interesting folklore of the young village beauty, Mahsuri. Traveling is a form of learning. We will plan our further travel and cherish every moment of togetherness.

Wan Thai restaurant at Langkawi island

There is a Chinese proverb says that 'walking ten thousand miles of the world is better than reading ten thousand scrolls'. We love travel because every time it is something new to learn. Pulau Langkawi is definitely one of our favourite travel destinations. Few weeks ago, we booked cheap flights to Langkawi through a budget airline. We went to this wonderful island on 30.5.2013. It was our third visit.

We rented a car for two days at the airport. You can rent a car as cheaply for RM60 a day. After checked in, we headed to Eagle Square. Eagle Square is located next to Kuah Jetty. It is one of Langkawi’s best known attractions. The eagle is symbolic of Langkawi Island. This massive eagle greets all visitors who coming to the island.
Dad kissed with this reddish-brown eagle. Dad love this giant eagle statue very much. Remember to snap a photo with the eagle sculpture to show you have been to Langkawi island.
We love to watch the sunset. We were waiting for the sunset there. Although every sunset is unique, it can be a real challenge to capture them in an unique way. The sky was covered with dark clouds which entirely hid the sun. We were unable watch the sunset. Girls, sunsets reminds us of how truly awesome our creator God.
Eagle square was crowded with tourists. After walked around Eagle Square, our stomachs began to growl. 
We decided to have our dinner at Wan Thai restaurant.The restaurant is located in an area in Kuah. It is highly recommended by the world wide web. For delicious traditional Thai food in a relaxed atmosphere, it is a right place.
It is a very popular restaurant among the local folks and tourists. A must try restaurant in Langkawi. Comfortable dining with friendly staffs.
Their operating hours is : (Open daily 10:00am ~ 3:00pm & 6:30pm ~ 10:00pm)
Different types of Thai style dessert. Mango rice desert. All time favorite Thai dessert. How can we miss that?
Kuih Lompang. It costs RM2.00. It is made with dry rice flour, pandan leaves, alkali water and grated coconut. A lot of pandan is used to bring out the aroma of this kuih. It is best eaten with freshly grated coconut.
Thai Spicy Squid Curry. It costs RM15.00. This curry sauce was quite savory, and like any Thai food, it had many spices on it.
Tomyam Kung Pla. Spicy soup with herb. A star dish of the place. It costs RM15. 
The tomyam tasted great with a generous amount of prawns.
Otak-otak. One of their signature dishes. It is rich and flavourful, with enough seafood like prawns, squid and fish. It costs RM20.00.

Mango kerabu fish. It costs RM10.00.
Fried Omelet. It is crunchy. It costs RM3.00.
Pandan Chicken. It costs RM15.00.
Wan Thai uses 100% Thai fragrance rice.Rice which is mould in a flower shaped bowl and topped with a sprinkle of brown rice. The food presentation is quite nice.
No alcohol is served. Ice water with pandan leaves is served free flow in this restaurant.

When you drop by Langkawi for the holidays, do not miss out visiting this restaurant.

Blessed Thirteen, Priscilla

Dear Priscilla, you are going to turn into 13years old. Watching you grow up is like seeing a flower blooming in the springtime. We celebrated your 13th birthday on 24.3.2013.
Your 13th birthday deserves a celebration because you are entering your teenage years. Finally you decided to celebrate your special day in a homely restaurant-Cha is Tea.
We are very thankful to be a part of your family. Every new year in our life is indeed a blessing.
Your lovely classmates came along to celebrate with you. Girl, the smile on your face shines like the sun in dad and mom's life.
Veenis laid her head on your shoulder. She is our neighbour. One of your best friends. Veenis is smart and intelligent girl. She is very good in her studies and always stands 1st in the class.
Both Xin Yin and Vickie are your lovely friends.Three of you knew each other as friends for years. Xin Yin and Vickie work very hard on their studies. Dad and mom really proud of them. Priscilla, you should value your friendship by being a good friend as well.
Joamine is your forever friend. This friendship wouldn't end. It is good to meet up with Joamine . All of you had a nice chat. Joamine is just like any teenage girl, becomes taller and prettier.
We were so glad to meet up with Shirley Lim. A cute girl with a cheerful mood. She is our neighbour too. Shirley is not only an excellent student, but she is also delightful.
Both of you love music. God is so good. Music is a great way to express our gratitude and praise towards God.
While waiting for the food to arrive, it was time to chat.
